President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the bill to change back to the old National Anthem “Nigeria we hail thee”.

This was revealed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday 29th of May, 2024 at the National Assembly while marking the Silver Jubilee Of Nigeria’s 4th Republic.

Recall that the Senate and House of Representatives have passed the legislation to swap the new and old National Anthem.

The old National Anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” which was composed when Nigeria gained independence on October 1, 1960, has now replaced “Arise, O Compatriots”.

In a clip that was shared online, the President and other Lawmakers were captured singing the old National Anthem today, May 29th at the National Assembly.
