I Became a Mother at 17 and Have No Regrets

I was only 17 when I became a mother. It was difficult and uncertain, but today I look at my son and feel nothing but gratitude.

A young mother’s Ajabor Henrietta on facebook shares heartfelt letter to her son about the challenges, growth, and unconditional love that shaped their journey

In her own words, she wrote:

My precious son,

Having you at the age of 17 was not the journey I imagined for myself at that time. I was young, still growing, still learning about life, and there were moments when the road felt difficult and uncertain. But through every challenge, every sacrifice, every tear, and every struggle, I can confidently say today that I do not regret having you at 17 not even for one moment.

You came into my life and gave me a reason to become stronger. You grew with me, and in many ways, we grew up together. While I was learning how to be a mother, you were teaching me what unconditional love truly means. You gave my life a different meaning and a purpose that words can hardly explain.

My son, you are not a mistake. You are not a regret. You are one of the greatest blessings of my life.

There were times when things were hard, times when I wished life could have been easier for both of us, but I would never trade having you for anything in this world. Every sacrifice I made, every sleepless night, every tear, every struggle, and every difficult decision was worth it because I had you.

Today, when I look at the young man you are becoming, my heart is filled with so much pride. I may not be a perfect mother, and I know I may have made mistakes along the way, but please know that everything I have ever done has been from a place of love and the desire to give you the best life I possibly can.

You are my first love, my greatest gift, my pride, and one of the biggest reasons I keep pushing forward in life. I pray that you will always know how deeply you are loved and how much your life means to me.

I had you at 17, and if life gave me the opportunity to go back in time and make the choice again, knowing the wonderful son you would become, I would still choose you. Over and over again.

I love you beyond words, beyond measure, and beyond anything I could ever explain. No matter how old you become or where life takes you, you will always be my baby, my heart, and my greatest blessing.

My son, I do not regret having you at 17. I only regret the moments I allowed myself to feel afraid of the journey. Because having you was never my mistake you were my blessing.

I love you today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.
